  1. Tell me a bit about your background?

I was born in London, but my parents immigrated from Ghana, and I grew up with my three sisters in Deptford, South East London. Fortunately, my mum managed to move us to Dartford so we could go to a better school and then I went to the University of Nottingham where I studied finance, accounting and management. I’m so thankful because my mum sacrificed a lot for me, I truly believe I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. During university, I did a couple of internships including BlackRock in my second…

Our mental health has been a huge focus point over the last year as we all cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, mental wellness platforms designed to support underserved Black communities have surged in popularity since the pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests.

However, whenever we talk about mental health and wellbeing — the financial aspect is often forgotten. This is interesting because it’s obvious that financial health affects every aspect of our daily lives including our emotions, behaviours and attitudes. …

It’s without a doubt that cryptocurrency is trending right now — the decentralised digital money, which works based on blockchain technology, has seen prices skyrocket in the past six months. Coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum have seen incredible returns over the past few months and even Elon Musk’s Dogecoin has got people excited about the possibilities of this digital currency.

However, it’s important to remember that cryptocurrency is an incredibly risky investment and is unlikely to make a lot of money overnight as people might think. Since countries like China and Nigeria banned cryptocurrency platforms and transactions, we have literally…

Tell us a bit about your background?

As I was born and raised in Asmara during the Eritrean armed struggle for independence, my upbringing was a mix of immense luxury and joy on the one hand and insecurity and fear on the other. Right after I finished high school, I migrated to Canada via Athens. And 10 years later, I moved to the UK. I could say that in my background, a direct path was something I never had. To live and thrive in three continents, I had to be extremely adaptable.

Who did you most admire growing up?

The pandemic has re-ignited the debate about whether women make better leaders. Interestingly, the countries led by females have been more successful in facing the pandemic. The female leaders of Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and New Zealand all outperformed their counterparts in their methods of managing and restricting the spread of Covid-19 in 2020. Female-led nations, on average have been found to have a better reputation and a higher net positive influence.

We cannot look at power without looking at patriarchy. Patriarchy is the domination of men over women and has been around for thousands of years. When it…

1. Tell us a bit about your background/story

I grew up in between London, and Nigeria and Uganda. I studied physics at University. I then worked in the technology industry for about 10 years for large companies like PWC, Goldman Sachs, the London Stock Exchange, and then became an entrepreneur. So, I started setting up companies; I would set them up, build them up, sell them or sell my stake, and then set up another company, I’ve probably set up six or seven companies over my career. Now. My latest company is called Crossword. It’s a cybersecurity company listed on…

A philanthropist is a person who gives money or time or expertise (or a combination) to help create a better world. Anyone can be a philanthropist, regardless of their status or net worth. It is easy to think of philanthropy as something done only by the very wealthy or big foundations or successful companies, yet every donation, whether money, used clothing & furniture, or time, makes a difference to the person or organisation receiving it. The non-profit community needs the support of donors at all giving levels. It’s not about how much you give; it’s about why and how you…

Tell us a bit about your background.

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1991. I went to primary and secondary school in Nigeria and then moved to England when I was 14, completing secondary school and university. I started writing from a young age; I wrote my first novel at the age of 10. I took it very seriously; it was going to be a masterpiece! Growing up in Nigeria, the media was western facing, with a huge fascination with America and England. So, while living in Nigeria, my writing reflected the media I was exposed to. My stories…

With the effects of climate change and pollution becoming more apparent, the impact they have on our environment is hard to ignore. From rising temperatures to desertification and melting ice caps, it is evident that our environment should be a priority, and it increasingly is. Beyond creating awareness about one of our century’s biggest challenges, the conversation about climate change has led to varying innovative solutions to combat its effect and hopefully change the way we live. The result is the opportunity to invest in companies that aim to achieve market-rate financial returns while pursuing environmental and/or social impact, commonly…
